Art In Hand Gallery
211 South Main Street, Zionsville
Currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, local co-op gallery Art In Hand was created as a place where artistic talent could be nurtured. It was begun by a group of friends who wanted a place where artists could display and sell their work, and where they could share ideas and grow artistically. They wanted a hand in selling their work and wanted to meet their patrons and tell their stories.
Originally located on the north end of Main Street, the gallery moved to a more central spot just a year later, where it remains today, at 211 South Main.
Sunny and airy, AlH currently has 24 central-Indiana artists and features jewelry, ceramics, glass, fiber, woodworking and 2D work in various mediums. All artists are required to jury in, and then pay a membership fee and monthly rent to maintain membership. Each member takes turns clerking and is assigned tasks to maintain the space and daily operations.
Art In Hand welcomes visitors who are looking for a special gift, art for their homes or who just come to enjoy the atmosphere. Its success is not only based on maintaining artistic quality, but on member cooperation and the balancing of friendship and business interests. The gallery is proud to be part of the Zionsville community and to be able to offer high-quality handmade work in an era where "Shop Local" is a key component in maintaining an area's uniqueness.

Roasted in the Village + Brian Biggs
27 East Pine Street, Zionsville
"My interest in photography began in the mid 1980 while taking courses in black and white photography in college. The magic of seeing a print develop in the darkroom and the satisfaction of making as image that "works" hooked me. The print making process has changed drastically since my film and darkroom days, but the contentment that comes from making a good image is as strong as ever. Subject matter has varied over the years and I have found that flowers, landscapes and natural subjects have produced my most pleasing images.
Photography as always been a side interest and creative outlet with time allotted to the activity varying over the year. As work demands lessen, I hope to devote more time and energy to continuing to learn and improve my skills at image capture and in the digital darkroom. My goal in making an image is to present an artistic representation of the subject. The final print will not be an exact representation of what was there but will be my interpretation of the subject. " - Brian Biggs

CV Art and Frame + Joann Bland
110 South Main Street, Zionsville
JoAnn and her family reside in Indiana where she established both an art studio and a display gallery of her paintings in the new home. Creating fine art for interior design and exploring new techniques and mediums which connect her imagination with the world is even more healing and transformative than ever before.
She likes to work with acrylic because of its diversity in application such as: palette knife texture, dry brushing, and pouring to name a few. More recently, experimenting with fabric compositions on canvas has become a focus. Sometimes she would work on several paintings simultaneously with an idea of how they would be incorporated into an interior. However, each one is a unique process and she likes to put the finished products aside in order to come back with a fresh second look in order to layer more details.
Regardless of the technique or inspiration, each painting is a unique journey and discovery. The end product will always have an element of surprise.
Blooms by Dragonfly + Jessica Bohrer
176 South Main Street, Zionsville
“As an artist I split my time between floral design and painting in my home studio in Zionsville, In. Growing up in southern Indiana with a grandmother, mother and brother who are all painters, I have been drawing and painting since I was a child. Academically I studied cytology at Indiana University and was trained to identify cancer cells at the microscopic level. This has led me to see patterns and beauty in the smallest of details and influences my approach to painting.
After spending the last few decades raising four sons, I now find more time for creative endeavors. I enjoy arranging flowers just as I enjoy painting a landscape or arranging a still life. I use vessels and objects that I have collected or have been passed down to me from family and friends. Many of my paintings are inspired by an event or memory in my life and hold a story behind the canvas. As a spiritual introvert, I hold these stories very close. The canvas allows me to share as I am picking up my brushes and beginning to paint again.
I feel blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing local artists and as an emerging artist, I hope my paintings will bring joy and encourage others to explore their artistic talents.” –Jessica Bohrer

Brad Fields’ painting follows in the footsteps of the American Masters of Watercolor. His paintings are full of realistic details & loose flowing “glorious messes” that characterize the medium. “Watercolor allows me to get those happy accidents that are thrown down on paper, articulating the form flawlessly - a miracle if there ever was one.” Brad continues, “I want to entice your eye with realistic details so that when you really look closely - what you see is actually very abstract. I don’t want my work to look like photographs – I want to draw you in, leaving you with something to chew on visually.”
After graduating from Herron School of Art, he spent the next 22 years managing and owning various signage, printing and graphic arts companies. Brad was appointed to establish a Fishers Arts Council in 2005, serving in all officer positions, including President.
Brad says, “I have always made art but now is my time to show just what I got. I decided in 2017 to join some local artists’ organizations and see if I had the chops to be a working artist.” Having been juried into the Hamilton Co. Artist’s Association, next he joined the Hoosier Art Salon, Watercolor Society of Indiana, Indiana Plein Air Painters Association, and was juried into the Indiana Artists Club. “These groups helped lead me to various Juried Exhibitions and Painting Competitions.”
